‘ただいま!’
‘お帰りなさい!’

There are a bunch of things to discover and remember:

The background. The movement. The expression. The light passes through the window screen and your hair. The sheen of sweat beads on the tip of her nose. A slight change in the air when he speaks. The pulsation of cells. The tremors around them from long ago or at this particular moment…

In my grandparents' generation, photography served as a means to capture pivotal moments such as weddings, births, or significant festivals. Family portraits were meticulously planned, with everyone dressed up and posed perfectly. So it’s no surprise they were initially hesitant and shy about being photographed casually. As I look at their old photographs, I can’t help but wonder if they felt the same watching me grow up. Did they feel like time was flying by, with me gaining height and growing up right before their eyes? This project is my first venture into photography and the debut of my photography collection. It also serves as a special gift for my grandparents— a contemporary rendition of the family snapshot. It offers a more intimate perspective, an intuitive approach to comprehension, and a silent grammar for expressing emotions, trust, and grace.
