FRAGILITY #3: in NYC

35mm film photography, USA, 2025
concept and performance art Ciarra K. Walters | photography Evelyn Lee

Appreciative of the trust built over these past three years, of being invited in, and of the thoughts and stories shared with such care. It feels like more than a single piece; each time I return to photograph or film, I’m moved again—by how it shifts, how it hurts, how the fragments of eggshells and the wounds they leave still linger. The work feels vivid and present, almost alive in those moments. This is what a documenter can witness and gently hold onto.

Below is an excerpt from her writing on the third performance.

‘Today I completed my fifth iteration of the ‘Fragility Performance’ in Brooklyn, New York. I’ve been thinking about how fragile everything is and it felt like a good time to return to this work.
Kerry James Marshall once said the role of the artist is “simply to point at things... you show people things that they might not have taken the time to look at, until you put it into a form that gave them the opportunity to think about.” I hope you never look at the brown eggs at the same way.’
